Piece by Piece: A CICA x PERMA Puzzle Gathering

Event Date: Saturday, December 13, 2025
Time: 3:00–5:00 pm
Location: CICA Vancouver ( 228 Abbott St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1C8)

CICA Vancouver will host an intimate puzzle-art experience in collaboration with PERMA, a puzzle brand that works closely with emerging artists to bring their artistic practices into everyday life. This two-hour program invites participants to engage with artwork at a slower pace, using puzzle-making as a tool for visual analysis, collaboration, and shared learning.

The event will feature puzzle editions based on the works of three artists across the Americas, each with distinct visual languages and cultural references:

Thiago Corrêa (Brazil) — mythology-inspired illustration and symbolic storytelling
Iris (USA) — gentle, dreamlike character scenes
Luosha (Canada) — urban perspectives and cultural narratives

Participants will choose between a solo puzzle (130 pcs) or a duo puzzle (321 pcs), and each participant will take their puzzle home at the end of the program.

Puzzle-making offers a tactile way to understand images. Unlike scrolling or quick viewing, assembling a puzzle encourages patience, observation, and a slow way to experience art. Through the act of matching shapes, colours, and composition, participants are encouraged to feel how artists build visual meaning. Participants will also immerse themselves in CICA Vancouver’s new exhibition Raghav Babbar: My Mother Tongue is Paint, surrounded by the artist’s nostalgic, muted colour palette that evokes the memory of home.

About the Artists

Thiago Corrêa

Thiago Corrêa is a visual artist, illustrator, and cat-obsessed based in Brazil. Thiago is deeply inspired by tarot, astrology, and mythology, influences that are present in his works. In his illustrations, ancient archetypes and symbols come to life. His vintage style evokes a sense of nostalgia and timelessness in his works. His passion for cats permeates his creations, where he explores the mystical and enigmatic side of these little creatures.

Luosha

I'm Luosha, a children's illustrator based in Canada. Originally trained in economics, I found my true calling in the world of picture books, which led me to the path of illustration. Over the years, I’ve collaborated with publishers and brands on a range of creative projects, including picture books, apparel, and puzzles. Currently, I’m working on my very first author-illustrated book, hoping to share more warmth and positivity through my art.
